Methane gas sensor first time on fixed wing aircraft
Airborne Technologies completed the integration of the ALMA G2 (Airborne Laser Methane Assessment Gen2) gas leak detection sensor into their fleet of multi mission aircraft.
The sensor - previously proven on helicopter applications - was first time installed and fully EASA certified on a fixed wing aircraft for providing pipeline surveillance in a very efficient, economical, safe and accurate way.
The observation of huge area gas pipelines is not longer limited to detect unauthorized activities with EO/IR sensors. The deployment of the methane gas leak finder brings the quality of pipeline monitoring to a higher level.
All detections are geo-referenced and recorded with a digital video camera.
The demand to operate this sensor on fixed wing aircraft comes directly from suppliers of natural gas transportation systems because of their need of patrolling long distance pipelines in a fast and cost-efficient way.
Airborne Technologies is now able to provide natural gas leak detection services to pipeline operators with their own fleet of fixed wing multi mission aircraft or to take orders for integration and certification of the sensor system into customer aircraft.
