German Police ‘airops’ capabilities enhanced with the introduction of a VulcanAir P68 equipped by Airborne Technologies (copy 1)
In selecting the VulcanAir P68 fixed wing aircraft fitted out with the latest surveillance equipment offering by Airborne Technologies, Hessen State Police airborne surveillance capabilities will be significantly enhanced. The Airborne Technologies equipped P68, will be an additional airborne asset to be operated in conjunction with the Hessen State Police fleet of helicopters, affording the opportunity for much longer, flexible and more cost effective missions and operations.
By operating a “mixed” airborne fleet, Hessen State Police can take advantage from both the specific features of its helicopters and the efficient, long endurance operations afforded by a fixed-wing aircraft. One key benefit is that very specialized; high value surveillance equipment can be transferred from the helicopter fleet to the P68 quickly and efficiently.
The VulcanAir P68 is one of Airborne Technologies preferred platforms as was chosen by the Hessen Police Service after extensive evaluations as the optimum platform for supporting longer surveillance missions (up to 12 hours when fully equipped) at the fraction of the cost of helicopter operations. In addition, critically, the Hessen State Police air operations will no longer be limited by adverse weather conditions as the P68 has full de-icing capability and the most up to date ‘glass cockpit’ digital avionics.
“We are committed to assisting our partners to develop more flexible and cost effective airborne surveillance solutions’’ said Airborne Technologies CEO Wolfgang Grumeth. ‘’VulcanAirs invitation to Airborne Technologies to support the Hessen State Police evaluation process has resulted in the creation of a mixed fleet which will increase the capabilities of the Police Force and even help them to deal with challenges of today`s limited and restricted budgets!”
